Our 75th Anniversary celebration continues with the first Junior Playhouse production of the season. The heartwarming children’s tale, The Little Prince, is based on the popular 1943 novella by Antoine de Saint Exupery, and tells the tender story of the fantastic and enlightening journey of the regal Little Prince as he travels through the galaxy. Throughout his interplanetary travels, the innocent “little man” learns many life lessons, thanks to the unusual characters he meets along the way, including: a Lamplighter, a Businessman, a Geographer, a wise and wild fox who wants to be tamed, and a very special flower. Before returning to his tiny planet, the Little Prince shares his new worldly insights about the importance of friendship, the unique beauty of love and loyalty, and the pain of loss with his newest acquaintance, an Aviator with an artistic gift, who is stuck in the desert with a downed plane.
Children will be captivated by the mysterious and fantastical characters, and adults will appreciate the tender allegorical lessons about human nature. It is truly a magical and imaginative journey through the galaxy for audiences of all ages; one that leaves us with the simple truth that “it is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye”. Come see this insightful classic tale that has been read by generations (in many different languages!), come to life on the Playhouse stage.
Directed by Playhouse Managing Artistic Director Reggie Law, the visually stunning production features scenery and costumes by Jason Ammons and lighting by Camden Simon. The ensemble cast of youth actors includes: Luke Dahl, Trevor Sexton, Noah Cormany, Ivy Hill, Alexandra Hill, Dionysi Siopsis, John Wolff, Carsten Stills, and Maverick Strader.
Public performances of The Little Prince are scheduled for Saturday, October 7, at 1 P.M. and 4 P.M. and Sunday, October 8 at 2 P.M. Get tickets now!
